Robert (Bob) Nathanial MARSHALL
MARSHALL, Robert (Bob) Nathanial - April 21, 1923 – November 2, 2010 Bob passed away peacefully at the Extendicare Michener Hill facility in Red Deer at 87 years. Born in St. Paul, Minnesota, he moved to Canada with his parents spending his early years farming in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. Bob married Lilian McNainy in 1950 at Wetaskiwin where they raised five children. Bob worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator until passing the Dale Carnegie course in 1959. He utilized his “GIFT TO GAB” to become a Salesman and Realtor. He was very involved with the Lions Club and volunteered for bingos and assisting seniors. Bob was a huge sports enthusiast with a special love for fastball. He became an umpire in the 70’s and followed his four children who all played fastball. There was never “a dull moment” when Bob was around. He loved to sing, dance, debate --but best of all he loved to tell jokes and stories --and boy did he have stories! His voice and laughter filled-up any room. Bob loved family gatherings and made every attempt to attend all family functions. He is survived by Lilian, four children, eight grandchildren, three sisters and numerous nieces and nephews: Sharon (Al) Poole, Red Deer (Leah & Spenser); Clint (Dawn) Marshall, Kitimat, BC (Meghan, Kyle & Brodie); Bruce (Toni) Marshall, Redwood Meadows, AB, (Lauren) and Sheila (Tony) Staples, Canberra, Australia (Jordyn & Matthew); sisters Cecilia Smoler, Joan Arens and Shirley Watts. Bob was predeceased by his daughter Maureen, his parents Earl and Kathryn plus five siblings: Elva Bottomley, Ronald, Alan and Jerry Bauer and Lyalle Marshall. A special thank you to the Wetaskiwin Hospital staff, Unit 35 and Dr. Dippenaar. Bob's cremains will be buried with Maureen in the Wetaskiwin Cemetery at a later date with family attending. We will always remember the “sparkle in your eyes” and the laughter you gave us Dad & Grandpa! Love your Family.
