A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 2:00 PM in the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Lafayette for Mary Ann Rodemacher Lavergne, 82, who died on Monday, May 14, 2018 at Cornerstone Village South in Lafayette.

Interment will be in St. John Cemetery.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Wilburn C. "Pete" Lavergne; two daughters, Suzanne Lavergne (Gail Gault) and Melanie Roy; one son, David Lavergne (Claire); two brothers Charles A. Rodemacher and Gus C. Rodemacher (Sandy); and four grandchildren, Lauren Lavergne, Meredith Lavergne, Kellie Roy and Katie Roy.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis A. and Marie Begnaud Rodemacher.

Mary Ann Rodemacher Lavergne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother “Maltie”, sister and friend to all who knew her. She was born on July 27, 1935 in Lafayette, Louisiana and remained a life-long resident.

Mrs. Lavergne was a graduate of Mount Carmel High School in 1953 and went on to attend SLI (now ULL) where he earned her bachelor’s Degree in Science and Business Administration in 1956. She worked as an office manager and secretary for many years within the Diocese of Lafayette. Mrs. Lavergne was a member of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, St. Patrick Catholic Church and Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. She was a member of various organizations including the Lay Carmelites, Beta Sigma Phi, Serra Club, and LA Sertoma Club. She was a master seamstress, and enjoyed Mardi Gras, vacationing at the beach, playing piano and spending time with her grandchildren. Mary Ann "Maltie" will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
