He was born November 20, 1934 in Clifton, Kansas to Howard "Fred" and Caroline Lyon. He joined the Air Force at the end of his Junior year of high school, where he served 10 years and is a Vietnam Veteran. He married Linda A. Sweet on May 25, 1968 in Vining, Kansas. They made their home in Salina, Kansas and later moved to Clyde, Kansas and adopted their only child in 1977.
Howard worked as a fabricator for Beach Air Craft, ran his own painting business, worked for Gilmore and Tage, and ABB. His hobbies were painting pictures, gardening, fishing, and spending time with his grandson.
He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Freda Jordan, Doris Blackburn, Stella Cyphers, and Laura (Iverson) Rundle, and a brother Raymond Lyon.
Howard is survived by his wife Linda Lyon, Clifton, KS, brother, Donald and wife Betty Lyon, Topeka, KS, daughter Grace Osantowski, Clyde, KS, grandson Jason McCollough, Clyde, KS, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
