A Memorial picnic will be held at 4:30 pm Saturday, May 19th at Emma McCarthy Lee Park in Ames. The family invites all who knew him to attend.
J.L. was born September 12, 1960 to Jerome and Bonnie (McDaniel) Nelson in Seattle, WA. He attended school in Ames and graduated from Ames High School in 1978.
He was an avid Broncos, Cubs and ISU fan.
He loved his family and was head over heels in love with his wife Ann of 36 years.
J.L. is survived by his wife, Ann Nelson of Ames; two sons, Andrew (Sarah) Nelson of St Paul, Minn. and Jess Nelson of Ames; one granddaughter due in September; two brothers, Eric (Leslie Kessler) Nelson of Seattle, WA, Kurt (Teisha Hartle) Nelson of Des Moines, one sister, Liann Nelson of Ocean Shores, Wash., two nieces, Molly (Josh) Brougham, Katherine Simmons and one nephew, Colin (Enelin) Simmons.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Benjamin Nelson.
In Lieu of flowers memorials may be addressed to the family.
