Wesley Andrew (Tommy) Thompson, 95, of Chanute, Kansas, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018, in Chanute. Born in Marshall, Texas, on February 9, 1923, he was the son of Wesley and Madell (Raley) Thompson. Tommy was a World War II veteran who served in the IX Bomber Command (1st Army) in the European Theater, where he participated in the Battle of the Bulge. He married Evelyn Brinkmeyer of Chanute on March 31, 1946, and began a long career as accountant and manager with Manley Trucking Co. He was a Mason (Scottish Rite) for over 60 years and a member of Shriners and Eastern Star for more than fifty years. As part of his long history of service, he was Worthy Patron of the Sunflower Chapter of the Eastern Star for twenty years.

Tommy is survived by two nephews, Herschel Waller of Fulshear, Texas, and Roby Bonds of Miramar Beach, Florida, one niece, Andrea Knapp, of Stamps, Arkansas, and several great and great-great nephews and nieces. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, his wife Evelyn and a daughter, Adathea Gwen.

A graveside service will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018, at 10 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Chanute, KS. Online condolences may be left at: www.countrysidefh.com.
