Viola Ruth Bandy was born October 2, 1924 to John Christ Schukar & Ethel Clare Schukar (Jones) in Calloway Nebraska.

Viola was the 2nd youngest of 9 children. She enjoyed growing up on the farm with her 4 brothers: Roy, Johnny, Purl and Woodrow, and her 4 sisters: Mary, Annie, Marie and Sylvia.

Viola’s family were farmers and she spent most of her life in Eastern Colorado, primarily around Hugo and Matheson.

She finished 8th grade in Limon Colorado. She then meets Eula’s (Bob) Elbert Bandy of Goodland Kansas at a barn dance. They were married January 25, 1940 in Colby Kansas and started their life together in a one room Chicken Coop. Viola and Bob were married for 36 years and brought 4 wonderful children into this world, Robert Lee Bandy, Janet Ruth Steinke, John Edward Bandy, and Curtis Elbert Bandy.

Viola enjoyed time with her 4 children, 5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren

She enjoyed playing cards and games with family and friends, sewing and baking pies.

Some of her happiest memories with her family were living in Buick Colorado. She tells stories of riding down the snowy slopes that developed between their house and the barn in a wash tub and ice skating on the creek by their house.

Viola enjoyed working at the Hugo drug store and KC Electric. In her retirement she enjoyed selling Home Interiors, sewing and doing craft projects for the family, RSVP, nursing home and baking pies.

She was proceeded in death by her parents, 8 siblings, Eulas Bandy, her 3 sons; Robert, John and Curtis, son in law Kenneth Steinke, Granddaughter, Tina Bandy Belluni. She is survived by her daughter, Janet Steinke, daughter in laws, Janet Bandy and Peggy Bandy, Grandchildren; Yavonne Bandy Johnson (Dave), Cynthia Steinke Yowell (LeRoy), Kenda Steinke Weigang (Kirk), Scott Bandy (Deena) and numerous great-grandchildren, and great- great- grandchildren and their families.

She passed on March 29, 2018 in the presence of her family by her side. She will be remembered for her SPUNK and spit fire attitude.

Memorial Service to be held Saturday April 7, 2018 at 10:30 A.M. at Love Chapel, 225 F Ave, Limon, Colorado 80828.
