Wilda Ruth Collier Dillion
Wilda Dillion died on April 29, 2018 at the age of 92 in Boise, Idaho.
Wilda was born on February 25, 1926 in Pendleton, Oregon, the second of six children born to Roy and Agnes Collier. In 1944, she graduated from McLoughlin Union High School, "Mac-Hi," in Milton-Freewater, Oregon. In 1952, Wilda married Alfred Dillion in Weiser, Idaho. Wilda and Alfred had five children – Cynthia, Charles, Thomas, Katherine and Annette. Wilda and Alfred lived and worked in several states until Alfred's death in 1969.
After her husband's death, Wilda settled the family in Boise, Idaho. During the next few years, Wilda worked in several doctors' offices, St. Luke's business office and at Saint Alphonsus Hospital as an Outpatient Clerk. While working at Saint Alphonsus, fellow employees inspired her to enroll in nursing school at Boise State University. After two years of study, Wilda graduated in May 1978. She continued her career at Saint Alphonsus as a Registered Nurse on floor 4-East. In 1986, she transferred to Saint Joseph's Medical Center in South Bend, Indiana. Not only did she continue her nursing career, but, she traveled around the area to do genealogy research. Wilda returned to Boise and retired from her nursing career at Saint Alphonsus hospital in 1992.

In her retirement years, Wilda continued genealogy research and, in 1993, her book, "Bits and Pieces of Family Lore" was published. In 2003, Wilda's research was published in her book, "Deaths & Burials: Boise Barracks Military Reserve, Idaho 1863-1913." Also, until Parkinson's disease slowed her down in 2008, she shared her genealogy knowledge and research skills as a volunteer at the Public Archives and Research Library at the Idaho State Historical Society. Right up to her death, Wilda continued to work on her family's genealogy, sharing her knowledge with family members and others.

Wilda was preceded in death by her son, Charles Wesley Dillion, who died at birth. Also, she will be reunited with her husband, parents, and brothers, Delbert Collier and Clinton Collier. Wilda is survived by her remaining children, several grandchildren and great grandchildren, her brothers, Francis Collier and Donald Collier, and, her little sister Mary Ann Collier Edson as well as many nieces and nephews.

Thank you to her family, friends, colleagues, and, in her elder years, her caregivers who recognized and appreciated Wilda's intelligence and good humor. And, of course, thank you to all who showed her love and care. Wilda is missed and will be missed for many years to come.
