JESSE HANSEN, 94, DIED AT HOSPITAL THURSDAY, JULY 19

Jesse Hansen, 94-year-old resident of the Orum vicinity, died Thursday, July 19th, at Memorial Community Hospital at Blair. Although he had lived most of his life at Orum and still considered that area as his home, he was living in retirement at the Good Shepherd Home at the time of his last illness.

He was born at Orum October 29th, 1878, and had spent his entire life as a farmer in that area.

His wife had preceded him in death, but he was survived by eight children. Five other children had preceded him in death.

The surviving members of his family are: Earl Hansen, Duncome, Iowa: Mrs. Ernest Westergaard, Rock Springs, Wyoming; Alva Berry, Long Beach, California; Lester Hansen, Camden, Arkansas; Gertrude Moser, Omaha; Kenneth Hansen, Ft. Dodge, Iowa, Buelah Hansen, Seattle, Washington, and Robert Hansen of Hooper, Nebraska.

Funeral services were held Saturday morning, July 21st at the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Orum. The Rev. Robert Albers of First Lutheran church of Blair conducted the service. Burial was made in the Orum Cemetery under the direction of the Campbell Mortuary of Blair.

Pallbearers were Albert Benson of Arlington; John Taylor, Sr., Richard Sorensen, William Newkirk, George Mencke and Roy Rahlfs.

(Another name for the Orum Cemetery is "Lincoln" Cemetery.)
