After leaving the Navy, he went to work for Standard Oil Company, where he worked for 37 years. He was also active in the U.S. Naval Reserves for many years. In 1954 he married Willie Frue Logsdon. That marriage produced a son, Robert Eugene Reaves. The family lived in Norwalk and later in Los Alamitos, CA. During the 1960s, he met his life partner, Bob Allen. Harold left his wife and son in 1968 and started a new life with Bob Allen.
After retirement from Chevron, Bob and Coop became avid RV travelers. They toured the country with their RV, as well as taking ship cruises to many destinations. Coop and Bob volunteered as marshals at many high-profile golf tournaments in the Coachella Valley.
Harold was a believer in Christ, raised in the Methodist Church. He is survived by his partner Bob Allen, Cathedral City and son Robert Reaves, Oklahoma City. Harold also has several nieces and nephews in California, including Cathy Reaves of Ventura.
