Mr. Julian Robert (Jesse) James, Sr., age 75 of Griffin, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2018.
Mr. James was born in Jackson, Georgia on December 25, 1942. He is preceded in death by his mother, Bertha Pirkle James; his son Julian Robert "Jesse" James, Jr.

Mr. James was a graduate of Griffin High School in the class of 1960. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, serving two tours in Vietnam. After the military, he worked for Delta, retiring with 30 years of service. He then worked for Riverdale, Fayette and Spalding county Sherriff departments, retiring from Spalding with 19 years of service. Mr. James loved the outdoors, to fish and take care of his bird Pepper. He was certified wielder and scuba diver always going on an adventure.

He is survived by his daughter, Karen Simmons of Temple, GA; step-daughter, Tracey Johnson; grandson, Christian Lamar James; granddaughter, Samantha Mason; great-grandson Turner Mason; sister, Sandra Stamps; numerous friends and work family with the Spalding County Sherriff office.

A visitation for Jesse James will be Friday, May 11, 2018 from 10:30 am until 11:30 am at Conner-Westbury Funeral Home. Following the visitation, a graveside funeral service will be conducted at 12:00 pm in the Veteran's section of Oak Hill Cemetery with full military honors.
