Mr. Metzler owned orchards, which he farmed, in the Cambrian Park area of the City of San Jose, in Santa Clara County, California. His land was near the intersection of Camden Avenue and Union Avenue. He donated land for a grade school to be constructed on and received the honor of having the school named after him in return. In the school cafeteria a black & white photograph of Metzler mounted in an oval frame hung high on the wall next to the stage.

Next to his grave marker (a "foot stone" rather than a head stone) is the grave of his wife Mary I. Metzler (1869-1960). Near their graves is the marker of William H. Metzler (1897-1993), who was one of their children. No other Metzler markers are in the immediate area.

From a family tree on Ancestry.com there are listed six children of Abraham & Mary's - David Russel, William H., infant son, Ruth Maxine, Ollie Irene and Ada Marie.
