Anthony Cooper Dies in Syracuse

Anthony M. Cooper, 36, a farmer residing in the eastern part of the town about two miles from Lacona, died September 20, 1948 in University Hospital, Syracuse, where he was taken after he collapsed as he was leaving his work at the Solvay
Process Company. Death resulted from a ruptured ulcer of the stomach.

He as born in Syracuse January 1, 1912, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Cooper and attended schools of that city. During World War II he served for three years and four months, attaining the rank of Technical Sergeant. At the close of the war He came to this area, purchasing the former C. J. LaRue farm east of Lacona. He was a member of the E.O.R.C. Mr. Cooper was married August 16, 1942 to Miss Mary E. Rowe of Syracuse, who survives him; also four brothers, Charles in Japan, Patrick and Dominick Cooper of Syracuse and Peter Cooper of Tucson, Arizona; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Malagesi of Syracuse and Mrs. Samuel Purpura of Syracuse.

Funeral services will be held this afternoon, with prayer at the home at 2 and services at the Sandy Creek Baptist church at 2:30. Burial will be in Wesleyan cemetery, close to where he had resided, with the colors, color guard and firing squad of Cable Trail Post, Veterans of Foreign Wars, officiating.
