Lyle R. Bardwell, 75, of Clearbrook, died on Thursday, March 10, 2005, at the Good Samaritan Center, in Clearbrook.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, March 12, at the Calvary Evangelical Free Church, in Bagley, with the Rev. Rick Moore, officiating. Disposition was by cremation.
He was born December 21, 1929, at Clearbrook, the son of Arthur and Minnie (Christenson) Bardwell. He attended rural school at Clearbrook, until moving to Minerva Lake, south of Bagley, where he attended the Minerva School. The family later moved to a farm near Clearbrook, where he attended the Greenwood School, through the eighth grade. Lyle helped on the family farm, until purchasing the adjoining farm. Lyle served in the U.S. Army and after the service, returned to Clearbrook, and resided there until ill health forced him to enter the nursing hiome.
Lyle married Betty Newman, on March 17, 1957, at Clearbrook.
Lyle worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator on road construction. He enjoyed airplanes, and refurbished two airplanes. In his younger days, he liked to hunt wolves and fox from the planes.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; one daughter, Arlis Jane Johnson of Clearbrook; three sons: Roy Dean Bardwell of Clearbrook, James Arthur (Lorinda) Bardwell of Fosston, and Leslie Brian (Jamie Kay) Bardwell of Clearbrook; two sisters: Ruby Gardner and Alice Berens, both of Fosston; one brother, Wayne J. Bardwell of Flagstaff, AZ.; and four grandchidren.
He was preceded in death by his three sisters: Vivian, Dorothy and Grace; three brothers: Jessie, Clifford, and an infant brother; two half-brothers: Ernest and Floyd; and a half-sister, Gladys.
The Cease Family Funeral Home, of Bagley, assisted the family with arrangements.
