Montie married Jack Brazill on September 23, 1940. Together they had two sons and one daughter, Russell, James and Deanna. The family moved from Superior, Montana to Ephrata, Washington in 1959 where her husband Jack accepted a teaching position at Ephrata Junior High School. Montie worked as a matron at the Grant County Youth Center for over 20 years. She loved her work with the troubled children and many called her mom years after they were grown and had families of their own. Montie was full of compassion and understanding which guided her passion for the young people she took care of. She loved her church and all of those within it. Many of her friends who she had fellowship with became her best friends or part of her family. Her door was always open to whoever wanted to come. Her tears of compassion for others was so evident in her life as they flowed while a sad story was being told of someone she barely knew or didn’t know at all. Montie never met a stranger and her smile was for everyone.
Montie is survived by three children Russell (Carol) Brazill of Vashon Island, James (Barbara) Brazill of East Wenatchee, Deanna (Mario) of Moses Lake; one sister Norma Daly of Butte, Montana and one brother David Magee of Dillon, Montana; 12 grandchildren; Russell Brazill’s children: Jesse (Susan) Brazill of East Wenatchee, Darryl Brazill of Vashon Island, Tana Brazill of Seattle, Tom (Sue) Brazill of Salt Lake City.
