Lester William Lawson, 83, of Tucker, Georgia passed away Sunday April 1, 2018. Born December 19, 1934 in Georgia's Hall County, Lester was the oldest child of Rev. James Madison Lawson and Edna Pinson Lawson. Lester attended White County High School then honorably served his country through the United States Marine Corps. He later studied Automotive Service Management (Class of 1977) at General Motors Institute (Kettering University). He became one of the best in his field of expertise. Lester was well known in the Tucker/Decatur area for his service and kindness to others through his neighborhood, Rehoboth Baptist Church, The Gideons International, The Mason Mill Park & Rec Road Runners Walking Group, Northlake Gardens Assisted Living, Golden Living Center, and Hanson Buick/Conley Buick Dealerships. He is also fondly remembered for his many awards of recognition in the automotive industry, fun with his fur-baby Pierre, and for Yard of the Month Awards in his neighborhood. His legacy will include his great love for his Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ, his compassionate love of family and friends, and his gift for serving others. In addition to his parents, Lester was preceded in death by the love of his life - LaGree Sparks Lawson, his brother – Milton Lawson, and his twin sisters – Mary Sue & Mellie Lou Lawson. Lester is survived by his siblings Maudine ("Bill") Stockton of Watkinsville, GA; Edward (Betty) Lawson of Colbert, GA; Henry (Florence) Lawson of Hartwell, GA; Helen ("Buddy") Moon of Hull, GA; and Bobby (Kathy) Lawson of Hoschton, GA. He is also survived by a great number of cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and beloved friends too numerous to mention. A time of visitation and viewing will be held April 6, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at Floral Hills Funeral Home & Cremation Service located at 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084 (770-491-3021). An 11 a.m. memorial service will be held April 12, 2018 at Rehoboth Baptist Church located at 2997 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084 (770-939-3182). Interment will take place at Hemptown Baptist Church Cemetery in Morganton, GA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Rehoboth Baptist Church, The Gideons International, or a favorite charity of your choice.
