Jesse Lloyd Ticknor, 74, Idabel, died early today at McCurtain Memorial Hospital.

Born Oct. 25, 1905 in Telephone, Tex., he came to McCurtain County as a young school teacher, becoming principal of Redland School.

He was owner and operator of Idabel Truck & Tractor and co-owner of J&L Buick-Olds for 37 years, retiring Aug. 10 of this year (1979).

He was a member of the Idabel Rotary, Idabel Chamber of Commerce, Idabel Masonic Lodge, a past president of the McCurtain County Cattleman's Association and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Idabel.

Survivors include his wife, Sybel; one son, Jerry of Ardmore; three brothers, Howard of Bokchito, Lee of Bennington and Gordon of Boswell; two grandchildren, and one great grandchild.

Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday in the Idabel Norwood-Welch Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. John Deller officiating.

Arrangements and burial in the Denison Cemetery are under the direction of Norwood-Welch Funeral Home.
