Funeral services for Johnny Leon Barnes, 65, of Sperry, were held Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at Osage Oaks Church of God in Sperry, OK. Reverend Jerry Harper, Jr. officiated and burial was in Rest Haven Cemetery in Sperry, OK. Casket bearers were Pete Bender, Anthony Bender, Steven Askins, Gene Askins, Justin Hookie and Brent Sloan.
Johnny was born April 10, 1953 in Benton Harbor, MI to Preston Leon "PeeWee" and Mary Lucille (Porphir) Barnes. He passed away April 29, 2018 at his home.
He grew up and attended schools mainly in the Tulsa, OK area. On February 21, 1973, he married Mary Kathryn Wallace in Kansas City, MO. He followed in his father's footsteps by learning how to work with fiberglass and later opened his own boat repair business. He enjoyed playing music, hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
He is survived by his wife Kathy of Sperry; daughter, Theresa Lowe of Sperry, OK; son, Scott Wallace and wife Brandy of Stroud, OK; brother, Gregory Barnes and wife Cheryl of Oswego, KS; grandchildren, Keith Roberts of Henryetta, OK, Stephanie Blakely and husband Josh of Broken Arrow, OK, Johnny Wallace and wife April of Bristow, Ryan Davis of Stroud, Cody Hunt of Mannford and Sean Hunt of Glenpool; 10 great-grandchildren; five nieces; one nephew; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Randy and Tommy; parents, Preston and Mary Barnes; and grandparents, Buck and Ester Barnes and Johnny and Daucie Porphir.
