Ralph Michael Hughes went home to heaven on October 20, 2017.
Mike was born on June 24, 1941 in Pittsburgh, PA to Elizabeth and Ralph Hughes.

Prior to moving to Bonita Springs, Fl in 2002, he and his wife Teresa lived and worked in Kalamazoo, MI.

He served his country in the US Army. For the past 30 years, Mike enjoyed a career in real estate sales with Chuck Jaqua Realtors in Portage/ Kalamazoo and Amerivest in Naples/Bonita Springs.
Mike was a guy with a big heart who loved people and who never met a stranger. He was very social and had a genuine interest in people which made him a natural in his career as a realtor.

His other passions included sports both as a spectator and participant. He was especially proficient at bowling and golf and loved dancing. Although he did not have children of his own, he dedicated many years to coaching little league in the Portage area as well as participating in the Big Brothers program. He believed in teaching his kids that sportsmanship and tolerance were sometimes more important than getting the win.

In May of 2013, he joined the Bonita Springs Recreation Center and spent many hours walking the treadmill and socializing with the members and staff. He particularly enjoyed watching and encouraging kids baseball and tennis there.

Mike also enjoyed music and had a pleasant singing voice – no birthday was complete without Mike calling and singing a birthday song.
Mike was unfailing loyal to and a champion of his family, friends and neighbors. He will be missed.

Mike is survived by his wife Teresa and his brother David (Angie) Hughes as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Elizabeth Pisa; step father, Joseph Pisa; father, Ralph Hughes and sisters Carolyn Donohue and Judith Van Haverbeke. He hoped to see his beloved little dog Gabby again some day and we picture the two of them together.

A memorial service will be held in Bonita Springs at Shikany’s Bonita Funeral Home at a future date and will be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes society or Bonita Springs Fire Department.
