William was the son of George Washington Gilpin & Jane "Jennie" Johnson (married 8 April 1867 in Danville, Boyle Co. Ky.) Will Gilpen married 12 Aug. 1921 in Indiana, Anne Bremmer.

Note - His surname is shown as Gilpin in cemetery records, however some other records show it spelled Gilpen.
