From the Norfolk County (Mass.) Journal, Sept. 27, 1862:
The Killed in Capt. King's Company
[For the following biographies of the martyred dead of the 35th regiment, from this city (with one exception), we are indebted to Franklin Williams, Esq. Mr. Williams contributed a touching article of farewell to Capt. King's company, when it left our city, which our readers will doubtless call to mind.]
Dearborn S. Blake was well known and esteemed for his hardy and manly virtues. He was long connected with the Fire Department, and at one time was Foreman of No. One. He always contended with spirit and zeal for his favorite machine, and developed those qualities which well fitted him for the duty of a soldier. He informed us he had somewhat resisted the inclination to go to the war, but the last call of the President he could not withstand, and he speedily enlisted under the banner of his friend King, and inspired by his example many of his friends to follow him. He was 37 years old, and leaves a wife and two children.
