From the Norfolk County (Mass.) Journal, Sept. 27, 1862:
The Killed in Capt. King's Company
[For the following biographies of the martyred dead of the 35th regiment, from this city (with one exception), we are indebted to Franklin Williams, Esq. Mr. Williams contributed a touching article of farewell to Capt. King's company, when it left our city, which our readers will doubtless call to mind.]
Horatio B. Hackett was from Boston. In looking around for a company to join, he was directed to Capt. King. On consulting with him, he inquired of us if we could recommend his company. Our knowledge of that gentleman, and our acquaintance with a large portion of its members led us without hesitation to say yes. He was a sincere christian, a member of the Orthodox church, and of high-toned moral sentiments. He prized as the most , acceptable gift a copy of the Bible, from his wife, as his guide through his perilous way. He was 25 years old, and leaves a wife and one child.
