In the 78th year of her age, Mrs. Gottlieb Rowan, one of the older and best known residents of Shippenville, died at her home June 11, 1918, from causes incident to old age.
Mrs. Rowan was born in Philadelphia, PA on Sept. 17, 1840, and was married to Mr. Gottlieb Rowan Jan. 8, 1856. She had five children who crossed to the other side before her demise, but is survived by the following children: Mrs. Amelia Burkett, Fryburg; Mrs. Anna Dunn, and Mrs. Rosa Ralston, Warren; Miss Percilla, and Charles and William Rowan, Shippenville; Edward and Frank Rowan, Cairo, W Va.
The deceased was a devout Christian and a member for many years of Emmanuel's Lutheran Church of Shippenville, and the pastor, Geo W Busch, conducted the funeral last Friday, the body being laid to rest in the church cemetery.
