Euphemia R. Chrisman, 89, Lacona RD 1, died Tuesday afternoon, March 27, 1984 in the House of the Good Samaritan Hospital in Watertown.

She was born April 10, 1894 in the town of Henderson, the daughter of Alfred and Gertrude Montague Franklin. She attended Belleville and Mannsville Union Schools. She married James Hamilton Chrisman on March 4, 1913. They owned
a farm on Smartville Road in the town of Boylston. Mr. Chrisman died Oct. 19, 1966.

She was a member of Sandy Creek United Methodist Church, Rhadamant Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Mistletoe Rebekah Lodge Number 248 and the Oswego County Rebekah Post Noble Grand Association. She was also a member of Sandy Creek Grange 127, Oswego County Pomona Grange, New York State Grange. She received the National Grange Degree in 1967. She was honored at a special awards held at Sandy Creek Grange November 6, 1981, at which time she received a 70-year seal for continuous membership and for several years held the office of Pomona and was a member of the third degree committee. Mrs. Chrisman also faithfully served on the services and hospitality committee for some time.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Clyde (Isabel) Ballou and Mrs. Frederick (Virginia) Peter, both of Lacona; two sons, Alfred (Joe) Chrisman of Sandy Creek and Harwood (Sam) Chrisman of Lacona; 14 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.

She was predeceased by one son, Rex, who died November 24, 1963 at the age of 42 years and he was buried in Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Also, two grandsons, David Ballou and Wayne Chrisman, 12 and 32 respectively. A sister, Mrs. Harry (Eleanor) Currier and two brothers, Warren and Nelson Franklin, also predeceased her.

The funeral was held Friday, March 30, at 2 p.m. in the Sandy Creek Methodist Church with Rev. Stanley Banner officiating, assisted by retired pastor Adelbert Edwards.

Burial was in Boylston-Sandy Creek Wesleyan Cemetery. Grange services were held Thursday evening at 7 p.m. at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home. DAR Memorial services will be held later in the Spring at the graveside.

Contributions in her name can be made to Sandy Creek United Methodist Church building fund or the Northern Oswego County Ambulance in Pulaski
