A 1972 graduate of Piqua Central High School, Susan continued her education at Washburn University of Topeka, Kansas, earning a Bachelor of Arts in 1976. She then attended Old Dominion University, earning a Master of Arts in 1980. She also completed other graduate work at Old Dominion and Kansas State University.
She is a former employee of the Indiana Attorney General's Office in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, Old Dominion University, and Coopers & Lybrand. She was an owner of the Adomaitis Organization with her husband. Active in Hamilton County (Indiana) Republican politics, Susan was an elected Precinct Committeeman and State Convention Delegate. She was also a member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Carmel Indiana, and served as a Stephen Minister.
