Frank L. Dusini, age 84, of New Philadelphia died Monday, May 7, 2018, in Aultman Hospital at Canton.

Born in New Philadelphia on April 5, 1934, Frank was a son of the late Louis and Erma (DeBois) Dusini.

He was a 1952 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and earned his Bachelor’s Degree from Ohio Northern University in 1957; and was a member of Phi Kappa Theta Fraternity.

Frank honorably served his country as a member of the United States Army “Big Red” 1st Division. As a pharmacist, he was employed by Gray Drug and Shuman Drug. In 1980, Frank opened his own store, Dusini Drug, at New Philadelphia and was co-owner of Dusini Drug at Uhrichsville. Frank was greatly respected for his care and compassion he showed to his clients. He had the ability to see beyond their circumstance and helped those in need in any way he was able. Through the years at Dusini Drug the store had a mascot of sorts, Frank’s beloved dog, Dino, who was spoiled and a celebrity in his own right. Following his retirement in 1994, Frank took a few years off and then turned to teaching Pharmacy Tech Classes at Buckeye Career Center.

Frank loved his church family, Sacred Heart Catholic Church at New Philadelphia, where he was a life-long member. He also held a life membership with the New Philadelphia Elks, BPOE 510 and the LCpl Peter Clore Council # 2372, Knights of Columbus. Frank also served on the board for the Italian-American Festival, Birthright of Tuscarawas County, and served three terms as a council-at-large member for the City of New Philadelphia.

Amidst all of his work and activities, Frank took time to enjoy his favorite past-time, card playing. He loved playing Bridge and Jass and even authored the book, “Jass for Beginners.” He also loved traveling to Italy to visit with family.

As a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Frank’s sense of humor and kind, gentle, tender heart will be missed by those who loved him deeply. He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, the former Arlene Gray, whom he married on September 24, 1960, their five children, Bryan (Victoria) Dusini of New York, Marc (Marie) Dusini of Akron, Douglas (Rachel) Dusini, Cassandra (Tim) Gowins all of Florida, and Tanya (Kris) Birtcher of South Carolina; nine grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Completing the family are two sisters, Carol (Ron) Groom of Columbus and Linda Dessecker of Dover, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Frank was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles E. and James A. Dusini.

The family will greet guests on Thursday, May 10, 2018, from 4-7 PM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home & Crematory at New Philadelphia where a Christian Wake Service will begin at 6:45 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Sacred Heart Catholic Church on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 10 AM. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Calvary Cemetery at New Philadelphia. A meal and fellowship will follow services in St. Ambrose Hall, adjacent to the church.

Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions in Frank’s name be directed to the Sacred Heart Church Building Fund, 139 Third Street NE, New Philadelphia, OH 44663.
