Dr. Shelby A. Heflin, age 69, of Russellville, died Sunday, May 6, 2018. He was born on September 10, 1948, in Russellville to Houston Dee Heflin Jr., and Reba Teal Shirey.
Dr. Heflin served during the Vietnam era in the United States Army and years later continued his service in the National Guard, totaling over 30 years. He had a thriving dental practice in Russellville for 25 years until his retirement. He was an avid outdoorsman who greatly enjoyed a myriad of fishing trips with his great group of family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Deborah Heflin.
Survivors include his wife of almost 50 years, Wanda Heflin of Russellville; a son and daughter-in-law, Shelby Jr., and Kelli Heflin of Fayetteville; a daughter, Lisa Heflin of Rogers; two brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Mike and Teresa Wilkins of Russellville, and Laura and Bill Speer of Fayetteville; and a granddaughter, Morgan Heflin of Fayetteville.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday evening from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 9, 2018, at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle with Pastor Gary Harvey officiating, and under the direction of Shinn Funeral Service of Russellville.
