The former Dolores Held was born on April 14, 1925 in Milwaukee, daughter of the late Frank and Veronica (Hartmann) Held. She entered the Convent in 1939 and professed her vows in 1943. Sister Ronald earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc, Wisconsin; and a Masters in Education (reading) from Marygrove College, Detroit, Michigan. Sister Ronald served as a primary teacher at St. Anthony, Oconto Falls; St. Mary, Clarks Mills; St. Mary, Hilbert; St. Andrew, Manitowoc; St. Agnes, Green Bay; Holy Redeemer, Two Rivers; St. Joseph, Waukesha; Corpus Christi and St. Joseph, Sturgeon Bay; and St. Aloysius, Kaukauna; all in Wisconsin; St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, Catholic Central, Menominee, and Holy Name Central, Escanaba, all in Michigan; teacher aide at Rhinelander Catholic Central, Rhinelander, Wisconsin; St. Christopher, West Covina, California and SS. Peter and Paul, Wellston, Ohio. Sister Ronald also cared for a family member as well as participated in various Community Service roles at Holy Family Convent and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc, Wisconsin. She had been a resident of St. Rita Health Center, Manitowoc, since 2017. She is a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; a sister: Valeria Held; a brother: Gordon Held; and a sister-in-law: Marian Spindler. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents: Frank and Veornica (Hartmann) Held; brothers and sisters-in-law: Raymond (Dorothy), Gerald (Margaret), Ronald and Joanne Held; and a brother-in-law: Kenneth Auler.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 10, 2018 at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Gerald Prusakowski, O.F.M. with burial at Holy Family Convent Cemetery, Manitowoc.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 9, 2018. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel, Manitowoc. Visitation will continue Thursday morning from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
