Donald ”Don" R. Rickard, 67, of New London, MO, passed away at 4:35 AM Saturday, May 5, 2018 at his home.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, May 10, 2018 at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO.

Family and friends are invited to Don's Life Celebration at a visitation that will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Wednesday at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.

Don was born October 4, 1950, in Hannibal, MO to John E. and Martha Z. Hamlett Rickard.

He was married to Rose M. Welch on February 17, 1973 in Moberly, MO. She survives.

Other survivors include 4 children: Scott R. Rickard (Brenda) of Quincy, Illinois, Tony L. Rickard (Jamie) of Hannibal, MO, Kevin E. Rickard (Janis) of Davenport, Iowa, Stephen M. Rickard of Hannibal, MO; 1 sister, Judy Ann Swank of Hannibal MO; 3 brothers: John Charles Rickard (Vicki) of Hannibal, MO, Phil Rickard of Las Vegas, NV, and Larry Joe Rickard (Tangela R.) of Hannibal, MO.

Don is also survived by 4 grandchildren: Lacy R. Rickard, Emily Rickard, Sophia Rickard, Nikki Rickard; 1 great grandchild, Lynnox and 7 step grandchildren, Tyler, Sadie, Dalton, Adam, Jimmy, Mike and Kayla. Other survivors included several nieces and nephews.

Don is preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Don was a certified welder and he was talented at his trade. He worked for many years in construction, first with Atlantic Buildings and then with Jenson Construction, Martin’s Construction and most recently with Bleigh Construction before his retirement.

Don loved storage shed sales, attending auctions and collecting coins. Don enjoyed mowing his lawn and regularly patrolled his property to rid it of dandelions. He took pleasure in the tranquility of his home in the country and simply enjoyed watching the deer there or listening to the whipper wills in the evening. Don had a heart of gold and would do anything for you that he could. Time shared with his family was cherished most by Don. He was a loving husband, dad and grandpa.

Pallbearers will be Zac Russell, Kevin Elliott, Michael McNary, Jimbo Powell, Stephen Lehenbauer and Glen Wiley.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Archie Whittaker.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Don Rickard Family or to Cardinal Glennon Children’s’ Hospital.
