Kathleen was born in Snohomish, Washington, to Frank and Hilda Schoknecht. She was a graduate of the Everett Junior College where she met her future husband Bob Henderson, and graduated from the Everett General Hospital School of Nursing as salutatorian with honors. She became a Registered Nurse at the Everett General hospital in Everett, Washington. Bob and Kathleen were married in 1952, and had two children, Michele and Mark. They went on to settle in the Portland, Oregon area where Kathleen took 18 years off from nursing to raise her children. She later reinstated her license and began working as an RN again for Kaiser Permanente in Portland until she retired. Kathleen was an avid cook, loving wife and mother, and was active in her church, even serving as co-superintendent with Bob for a time at Zion Lutheran Church in Portland. She celebrated 65 years of marriage with Bob in August of 2017. She was 88.
A funeral service will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 14175 NW Cornell Rd, Portland, OR, on Friday, March 23rd, 2018, at 1:30PM. Visitation for the public will be held at 1pm at Prince of Peace. A reception will follow the funeral service in the Christian Life Center. A public graveside committal service will follow at Skyline Memorial Gardens, Devotion Garden, 4101 NW Skyline Blvd., Portland, OR, at 4pm.
