June Louise (Bloxton) Terrell Dever, Portrait Artist, age 92, of Sandy Springs, Georgia, peacefully passed away on May 2, 2018.

Born on November 11, 1925 in Franklin County, Kentucky, June Louise Bloxton - to Conway Russell (Leland Butler) Bloxton, both college graduates. In 1930-1935, her father was a State Highway Bridge Engineer, and they lived at 119 E. Campbell in Frankfort. After 1935, and by 1940, June and her family relocated to 1807 Peachtree Hills, Atlanta, Fulton County, Georgia, where her father was a Civil Engineer in the Steel industry, and where she spent the remainder of her life. At a young age, June showed exceptional talent as an artist and was eventually accepted to pursue a degree in Fine Art at Agnes Scott College. By 1946, as a Junior, she was married to Phillip Terrell, who attended N. Fulton HS with her in 1939. In 1957, June began her career as a portrait artist - a career that would span over 60 years and produce over 6,000 commissioned works in and around the Atlanta metro area. June represented Georgia in the Mrs. America contest. June will be remembered as a faithful Christian, wife, mother, devoted grandmother and a generous friend.

ATLANTA BRUNETTES WIN MODEL CONTEST HONORS
"Two striking brunettes, both of Atlanta, took top honors in The Constitution-Loew's Grand Powers Model Contest which closed last Friday.
They are: Miss June Bloxon of 1807 Rock Springs Road and Miss Helen Taulman of 3845 Club Drive.
These two girls' striking beauty and ability to pose well posed a problem for the judges, and so they decided, in all fairness, to award a $25 War Bond to each of them. Miss Bloxton is now a student at Agnes Scott where she is studying art. She said she had been interested in art and modeling since childhood. She studied for awhile at the High Museum of Art, and she was voted "Most Original" girl at North Fulton, where she was a student last year. . . .
All photos of the winners will be submitted to John Powers, head of the famed Powers Model Agency in New York, for his consideration as possible future models. This is in addition to the prizes of war bonds and guest tickets to Loew's Grand Theater which were awarded the six winners. The contest was conducted in conjunction with the showing on the screen of Loew's Grand Theater this week of "Powers Girl" starring George Murphy and Carole Landis. More than 300 entries were received, with at least four states and more than 30 towns in Georgia represented."

June will be lovingly remembered by her son, Phillip "Pete" Terrell III; her grandchildren, John (Julie Stewart) Terrell and Naomi J. Terrell; and her great-grandchildren Noah and June Terrell. June is preceded in death by her sister, Mary, and husband, Harry Dever.

A memorial service in honor of Mrs. Dever was held on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at 5:00pm, at Mount Vernon Baptist Church (850 Mount Vernon Hwy, Atlanta, GA 30327). Please contact John Terrell at 770-262-6280 for more information.

"Julie, Thank you for your loving tribute for my beautiful, talented, and godly cousin, June Louise Bloxton Terrell Dever (November 11, 1925 - May 2, 2018) and for keeping me in touch with her through Facebook these last years. She was one classy lady! Grant and I were blessed to be able to visit her when she was still in her lovely home and still painting her beautiful portraits. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant," June! WHAT PRECIOUS REUNIONS AWAIT US IN HEAVEN. You and your family are in my heart, my thoughts and my prayers, Julie."
