(1930 - 2017)
LaVerne Arnett Foster Watson, 86, wife, mother, grandmother and dear friend to many, passed into her heavenly home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017. She was born to the late Frank Arnett and Pearl Whatley Arnett on June 24, 1930-the second of three daughters. LaVerne graduated from Snyder High School before earning her Cosmetology license in 1948, and then in 1972 she became a Realtor/Broker. She worked for Bunny Kent Realty and then branched out on her own and became LaVerne Foster Realty. She was an active member in her community especially with the Republican Party and the Republican Women's organization. LaVerne was state treasurer for the Texas Federation of Republican Women and President of the Republican Women. She was a delegate to both state and national conventions, and she worked on Clayton Williams' gubernatorial campaign. LaVerne was also a member at the Fairmont Park Church of Christ in Midland. The family moved to Midland in 1959. She married Coy L. Watson in 1992 and he was the love of her life. LaVerne said on numerous occasions that her 14 years with Coy were the best years of her life. She and Coy loved to travel and those travels took them around the world. After his passing on January 3, 2007, her constant companion was Bonnie Blue Eyes, her mini Aussie. LaVerne was a fabulous homemaker and cook. Anyone lucky enough to sample her cooking knows that to be true. She was a very talented artist, seamstress and made her own lamps and jewelry.
