Roy was a Navy Veteran of 3 years and when returning home worked with his father in the H and H Supermarket in Jonesville on Hines Hill and Way-Lo Supermarket in Pennington Gap. He later worked with Dr. Tom Jones's dental Office where he made dentures. Roy loved family history and pictures, was a member of the First Christian Church in Pennington Gap and attended the Jonesville First Baptist Church in Jonesville, VA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otis and Marie Hines; one son, Mark Hines; step son-in-law Mark Wallen; his brothers, Dub Hines, Jim Hines and his sister, Juanita Garrett.
