In 1962, he graduated from Ashland High School. From 1962 until 1966, he served in the U.S. Army. Wayne married Beverly Pieterek on June 4, 1966, in Ashland. In his early years, he worked for DuPont and later worked 30 years as a machine operator for the paper mill, in Ashland. Wayne enjoyed watching the Packers and Brewers at his home, hunting with his boys, being in the outdoors, and spending time with his family. He was a member of the American Legion and Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly, Ashland; four children, Dawn Marie Miller, Cheryl Ann Provost (Jim Hamann), Wayne Francis Hall Jr., and Brian Michael (Corrina) Hall, all of Ashland; 14 grandchildren, Tyler, Travis, Sharise (Allan), Amber, Alyssa, Cody, Jenna, Brandon, Matthew, Caitlyn, Mandy, Edward, Jonathon, and Gerald; two great-grandchildren, Caylee and Landon; a sister-in-law, Barbara Guski; a brother-in-law, Felix Pieterek; a special friend, Emogene Basley; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Doane Hall and Ralph “Swede” Hall; and two sisters, Isabel “Dolly” Prouty and Marjorie McCutcheon.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Friday, May 4, 2018, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland, with Father Joseph Kumar Mayakuntla officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 3, 2018, at Frost Home for Funerals, in Ashland, from 6 to 8 p.m., with a 7:45 p.m. prayer service and a United Chequamegon Veteran Service to follow. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday, at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church, in Ashland.
