Hansel Daryl Jackson was born August 18, 1955 to Enos C. Jackson and Alma Mae Conner Jackson in Kemper County, MS.

He accepted Jesus Christ in 1961 at the young age of 6 and joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Preston, MS where he was later ordained as a Deacon and served as the Sunday School Superintendent. His passion for Christian Education was evident through his dedication to the Sunday School Ministry.

He was a 1973 graduate of West Kemper High School in DeKalb, MS. After graduation, he attended Mississippi Industrial College (MIC) in Holly Springs, MS where he received a Bachelors of Science Degree in Social Studies Education. While attending college, he became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. It was in Holly Springs, MS that he met Dorothy Jean Jones.

He would later marry Dorothy Jean Jones and their union was blessed with two children, one daughter and one son.

Secondly, he married Thelma Houston, a native of Meridian, Lauderdale County, MS and their union was blessed with two children also, one daughter and one son.

After graduating from college, Hansel worked at U.S. Motors in Philadelphia, MS for over twenty years. He later worked at East Mississippi State Hospital in Meridian, MS where he retired.

He served his community faithfully for 1983 until 2000 as a member and President of the Kemper County School Board of Education, advocating for a quality education for the children who attended Kemper County Schools. He was also a member of the Unity Springs Lodge No. 2258 PHA and spent many summers as a coach of the Preston Pirates Softball Team.

He died April 29, 2018 at the age of 62.

He was the Husband of Dorothy Jean Jones Jackson and Thelma Houston Jackson; the Father of Dr. Yolanda Jackson Cook, Hansel Daryl Jackson II, Brickley Kawaii Jackson, and Briceley Kenzell Jackson; the Son of Enos C. Jackson and Alma Mae Conner Jackson; and the Brother of Opal Dean Jackson Scott, Enos C. "Happy" Jackson, Larry Birdell Jackson, Frank Raymond Jackson, Shellie Mitchell, Wilbert Jackson, Terry Jackson, Lucious Jackson, Michael Jackson, Callie Jackson Moore, Evangeline Jackson Hardaway, Dorothy Jackson McCoy, Cynthia Jackson McGee, and Ava Jackson.
