Maria Esperanza (Hope) Contreras Arce

Was born On September 18,1937 in Alamo,Texas to Emilio Contreras and Petra Espinoza Contreras. Died May 30,2017 at her home in Angleton, Texas. Our “Hope the Fighter” fought her cancer till the end. She grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, started very young working in the fields of south Texas to help her family, thus was not able to finish her schooling, but later earned her GED that she was so proud of. After her marriage she moved to Rosharon,Texas with her Husband Jerry to begin the next chapter of her life which took her to Sugar Land and back to Angleton. Along the way she made many friends working for Texas Instruments, Fort Bend ISD and Merritt Medical until retiring. Her next chapter of life was filled with volunteer work for Angleton Danbury Hospital Auxiliary, the Saint Thomas Center, Habitat for Humanity,and the Gathering Place. Member of Court Immaculate Mary Catholic Daughters of the Americas #2134 Of Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Angleton,Texas, Eucharistic Minister, Funeral Ministry, and Offer Guild. Was a member of the Guadalupanas Society and a Member of Legion of Mary.. All her life was dedicated to her strong Catholic Faith. This strong faith got her through her trials in life and lastly to be able to fight her cancer till the end. Her belief that her God never left her was a comfort until the end that he lifted her up in spirit to heaven. She was a very strong woman and will be missed beyond words by all who loved and knew her. She was a Loving Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Sister , Aunt and friend. She is preceded in Death by her Loving Husband Jeronimo “Jerry” Arce Jr., Her parents, Emilio and Petra Contreras and her brother Noe Contreras. She leaves behind Her Daughter Sandra Arce Lopez, Son Oscar Arce and Wife Angela Arce, her precious Grandchildren Brandon Christopher Lopez, Michael Anthony Lopez, Rylan Gabriel Arce and Ashtyn Hope Arce. Sisters Elvira Contreras Perez (McAllen) Aida Contreras (McAllen) Brothers Jose Contreras (Nampa,Idaho) and Epifanio Contreras (Alamo) and numerous family members.
Pallbearers: Jon Ramirez, Marco Ramirez, Carlo Ramirez, Rudy Ruiz, Jesse Gonzalez and Froy Perez. Honorary Pallbearers: Brandon Lopez, Michael Lopez, Rylan Arce and Ashtyn Arce.

A Public Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4, 2017 from 6-8:00 p.m. in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. also in Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church with burial to follow in Angleton Cemetery.
