He was wounded in action 28th August 1918. He died of wounds (shrapnel wounds leg and foot) at No. 7 Casualty Clearing Station on 29 August 1918. His Canadian military records show that he is buried at Ligny-St. Flochel British Cemetery, 4-1/2 miles SE of St. Pol, France.
