Jim was born October 31, 1938 in Farris, Oklahoma to Jasper Newton McCutcheon and Irene Lucretia Spurgin McCutcheon. He passed away April 29, 2018 in Albany, Oregon from Cancer.
In 1941 his family moved to Oregon where he attended schools in Springfield and Eugene. After graduation from Willamette High School, in Eugene, OR, he joined the Air Force Aug. 1, 1954.

After his discharged in 1960, Jim married Faye Acree October 21, 1961 in Springfield, Oregon. He adopted Faye's son, Donald James Woods, and in 1966 a baby girl, Darla Faye McCutcheon.
One of Jim's most rewarding jobs was being counselor to his clients in need of Drug and/ or Alcohol education in Gold Beach, Oregon. He was a natural at this job; giving as well as receiving support, from his many AA friends. They were his extended family for forty years as were many in the V A facility, where he lived in Albany, OR.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Newton Edward "Bud", and five sisters: Betty Jean 1929_1930, Viola Marie(Frank) 1925_ 1997, Peggy Lou (Schwartz) 1931_2003, Vera Muriel (Martin), 1928-2019 and Lucretia Irene (Perez)1948-2008. His surviving siblings: John Norman 1936_, Jesse Ray 1941_, Floyd Jay 1944_ and sisters; Norma Dee (Gilbert) 1934_, and Jeanne Earlene (Ley) 1954_.
Jim donated his eyes before cremation and specified, "No Service."
