Born October 15, 1942 in Peoria to Theodore P. and Stella (Lambros) Xanos, he married Pamela Carter on February 6, 1966 in Peoria.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years; one son, Bradley (Kelli) Xanos of Pekin; one daughter, Tiffany (Anthony) Rossi of Urbana; one brother, Andrew Xanos of Pekin; one sister, Cynthia Xanos of Pekin and one niece, Christina Xanos of Chicago. He also leaves seven grand pets and his special little girl, Tessa, who he adopted from TAPS.
Pete was a graduate of Woodruff High School in Peoria and had attended Bradley University. He had served the United States Army Reserves.
He and his family owned and operated Xanos Drive-In in Pekin for many years. His dad worked the front of the house and Pete was responsible for the back. Pete later worked for Pekin Park District in many positions and retired as manager of Parkview Golf Course.
Pete was an avid golfer and was passionate about playing, traveling and watching golf. He enjoyed watching Illini sports and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan. He especially loved spending time with his family and friends on Lake Arlann and enjoyed wintering on Anna Maria Island in Florida for 12 years. Pete was a former member and past president of the Pekin Chapter of Ambucs. He also was a past president of Pekin Youth Hockey.
He was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday, May 11, 2018 at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. No funeral service is planned. Cremation rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tazewell Animal Protective Society, 100 Taps Lane, Pekin, IL 61554 or to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 1812 North Prospect Road, Peoria, IL 61603.
