On Friday, May 4, 2018 Karen Jean Bergez was lifted up by the angels and placed in the arms of God.

Karen was born in Ludington on May 28, 1942, the daughter of John Louis and Meredith (VanSickle) Bergez and graduated from Mason County Eastern High School with the class of 1960.

Karen married John Luft in August of 1960 and they were blessed with sons Jeffrey, Todd, and Bradley.

Karen worked at various times for Stokely’s Cannery in Scottville, at Star Watch Case in Ludington, as a Security Guard at the Ludington Pumped Storage Plant, and as a Nurse’s Aide for Baywood Nursing Home.

Always a farm girl at heart, she had a great love for animals, especially horses. Her favorites were her beloved white Arabian horse Misty Mae, and her black German Shepherd Bear. She was a longtime member of the Mason County Saddle Club and always enjoyed listening to Elvis Pressley music and going on road trips with family and friends.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents John and Meredith Bergez, and her brother John Bergez.

Funeral services will be held for Karen at noon on Wednesday, May 9 at the Stephens Funeral Home in Scottville. Burial will follow at Fountain Cemetery.
