The soul of our beloved Cheryl Benita Murphy (nee Jenkins) of Virginia Beach, Virginia, was received by our merciful Father. She was the only child born to Sister Gladys L. Arrington (Jenkins) and the late James F. Jenkins, Jr.

Born in Norfolk, Virginia, she was a product of the Portsmouth Public Schools having graduated from Manor High School in 1980. She attended Norfolk State University and worked at QVC as a Customer Service Representative. Cheryl was united in marriage to Francisco Murphy in 1987, and the union was blessed by one son, Eric Christopher Murphy. Cheryl was nurtured in the faith from childhood at the Noble Street Baptist Church where she was baptized. She enjoyed traveling, fishing, deep sea diving (member of the Virginia Beach Diving Team), cooking, and she had a love for God, her family, people, and life in general. Although she suffered a long and debilitating illness, her unfaltering faith in God sustained her and helped her endure her illness with patience.

Cheryl leaves to cherish her memory a devoted husband, Francisco “Chico” Murphy, Jr.; a loving son, Eric Christopher Murphy, and a loving step-daughter, Aisha A. Murphy all of Virginia Beach, VA; her mother Gladys L. Arrington (Jenkins), Chesapeake, VA; one aunt, Barbara F. Arrington, Gardena, CA; five uncles: Simon A. Arrington, Fort Washington, MD; Wilbert D. Arrington, Chesapeake, VA; Ronald J. Arrington, Williamsburg, VA; Larry J. Arrington (Celeste), and DeWayne K. Arrington, Sr. (Cynthia) Suffolk, VA; two great-uncles , one great-aunt, and a host of cousins and friends.
