Mr. Donald Hugh “Donny” Garrison, age 63 of Taylorsville passed away Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home. He had bravely battled Type 1 Diabetes since his teens.
Donny was born January 14, 1953, son of the late Marjorie McDurmon Garrison and the late Charles Edwin Garrison. He was a member of the Taylorsville Baptist Church and was a retired dairy farmer. Donny was a graduate of the Rockmart High School Class of 1972. He was a proud member of the FFA and earned the Georgia Future Farmer’s Degree. He loved his family and was so proud of his daughter and son-in-law. In March of this year, he was elated to be a new grandfather to his only grandson which proved to be his greatest joy. Donny considered himself a generous and simple man who loved his family, farming and horses.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Hannah and Clay Wilson of Taylorsville; grandson, Garrison Lathan Wilson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Glenn Campbell of Rockmart and Diane and Tim Bockholt of Calhoun; and brother and sister-in-law, Chuck and Dianne Garrison of Taylorsville; a number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Memorial Services for Donny will be held on Tuesday evening, July 26th at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of the Taylorsville Baptist Church with Rev. Tommy Harris officiating. A eulogy will be given by Mr. Glenn Campbell. Interment services will follow in the family lot of Taylorsville Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday prior to the service from 4:00 p.m. until the memorial hour.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in memory of Donny to the Polk Healthcare Foundation, Subacute Rehabilitation, 2360 Rockmart Hwy., Cedartown, GA 30125.
