She was born in Merrill, OR on May 11, 1939 to Charles E. (Ewin) and Thelma B. Mayhall, the fourth of four children. The family lived in Merrill until Florence was seven.
In 1946 they moved to Vale, OR and in 1954 moved to Brogan, OR where she lived until her passing.
Florence married Arthur M. Allen on April 21, 1956. Together they raised four children : Arthur, Jr. (Sally), Ontario, OR; Darlene (Tom) Jacobsen, Stanfield, OR; Rodney (Cathy), Brogan, OR and Diana Meo, Boise, ID. She enjoyed her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Florence worked for the Vale School District for over 20 years as the Deputy Clerk before pursuing her degree in education.
Florence attended Eastern Oregon University where she received a Bachelor's of Science and a Master's of Teaching. She taught in the Adrian School District for five years. She then taught English at Treasure Valley Community College until her retirement in 2013. Florence loved History and English and enjoyed researching for her classes. She was an avid, organic gardener for most of her life.
Funeral services are under the direction of Bowman Funeral Directors of Garden City, ID.
Services will be held at the St. Patrick's Church in Vale, OR on May 12, 2018 at 10:00 am.
