A native of McDowell County, North Carolina, born June 12, 1956, she was the oldest daughter of Gladys Ashe of Marion and the late Otis James Ashe.
A loving and amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Kathy enjoyed spending quality time with her family, especially her "grandbabies" and traveling to Cherokee.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her loving husband of 44 years, Joe Ramsey of the home; one son, Joe Ramsey, Jr. (Becky) of Nebo; one daughter, Katrina Ramsey of Nebo; and six sisters, Kathryn Miller of Nebo, JoAnn Biddix of Morganton, Loretta Dillingham of Nebo, Jackie Smith (Raydell) of Marion, Tracy Lamb (Robert) of Nebo and Beatrice Cooper (Bobby) of Marion. Kathy is also survived by her four loving grandchildren, Austin Hensley, Dillon, Deven and Alyssa Ramsey; two great grandchildren, McKenzie and Grayson Hensley; one special nephew, Hal Rabon; and a number of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
A service to celebrate Kathy's life will be held on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Beam Funeral Service with Pastor Mike Zullo officiating.
Interment will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m., prior to the service, at the funeral home.
