William E. ‘Ed’ Williams KINGSTON - William E. “Ed” Williams 85 of First Avenue Kingston. Died Tuesday July 8, 2014 at Ten Broeck Commons in Lake Katrine. Born in Kingston, Nov. 27, 1928, He is a son of the late John and Cornelia (Gay) Williams. Ed served his country in the United States Army During the Korean War. He is the recipient of The Korean service medal with three bronze service stars. Employed in the area garment industry for forty years. He worked at Manhattan Shirt company for twenty years, and Halpern Manufacturing for twenty years. Ed was an avid gardener loved his tomatoes, and was a Yankee fan. Surviving are his wife, Marianne L. (Purhamus) Williams. A son, Scott Williams of Kingston, and a Granddaughter, Katelyn Williams. Many nieces and nephews also survive. His brothers John, James, Raymond, George, Floyd, Frank, and sisters, Mary Greene, Katherine Bunce, Pearl McCardle, Helen Beesmer, Ruth Beesmer all predeceased him. Funeral arrangements are under the guidance of Joseph V Leahy Funeral Home, Inc. 27 Smith Avenue Kingston, N.Y. Friends will be received at the funeral home Thursday 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home Friday at 11 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Montrepose cemetery.
