Christine Howard born June 16, 1924 to the union of William and Arie Lee (Odom) Fultz in Clarksdale, MS. Christine departed this life on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 9:15 p.m., at her home surrounded by loved ones. She was 93 years old.
At the age of 23 Christine moved from Clarksdale with her family to South Bend, IN., where she resided until her death. She retired from Notre Dame as an environmental specialist and later did private work for Dr. Pesserman. She was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church.
Christine leaves to cherish her memory three daughters; Willa and Cynthia Howard both South Bend, IN., Lubirta Smith of Covert, MI., one son; Richard Howard of South Bend, IN., one sister; Louise Fultz of Knoxville, TN., three special grandchildren that could have been her own; Christina (Anthony) Williams, Steven (Mitzy) Howard and Marquita (Shawn)
Perry, 19 grandchildren; Denise Fultz, Lester (Cynthia) Martin, Kim Harris, Adele Alexander, Anthony Howard, Bruce Jason Howard, Bernetta McDonald, Audra McDonald, Jerry (Tammy) Blackmon, Casey Blackmon, Barbara Blackmon, Angela Blackmon, Adrienne (Griffin) Sosola, Antionette (Diana) Howard, Crystal (Cory) McKinney and Letitia (Timothy) Patterson.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents; William and Arie Lee Fultz, her husband; Bearlie Howard, sisters; Lucille Fultz Burnley and Willie Lee Fultz, brothers; John Fultz, Sylvester Fultz, McKinley Fultz, Robert Fultz, Archie Fultz, and William Fultz, Jr., her daughter; Irma Fultz, her son, Bearlie Howard, Jr., granddaughters; Arletha Gilmore and Shaunte Harris, grandsons; Chester Gilmore, Jr., and Alvin Lee Carter, Sr., great great granddaughter; Tysiona Crawford and niece; Kimberly Maria Burnley.
Christine was a fifth generation grandmother of 82 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m., on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at Sweet Home Ministries with viewing from 11:00 a.m., to noon at the church. Burial will follow at Southlawn Cemetery.
