Jimmy Ray Stewart

Jimmy Ray Stewart, 62, of Stillwater, died Sunday, March 25, 2007, in Tulsa. Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday in Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Calvin Miller, the Rev. Don Echols and the Rev. Imogene Murray officiating. Burial will be in Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Full military honors will be performed by the U.S. Army at the graveside service. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

He was born in Glencoe April 16, 1944, to Samuel Steward and Addie (Taylor) Steward.

He married Katherine "Kitty" Johnson in Pawnee in 1962, and they were divorced in 1968. He was later married to Ruth Alexander and they were divorced in 1994.

He attended Pawnee Schools and graduated from Pawnee High School. He was inducted in the U.S. Army Dec. 22, 1962, and was honorably discharged with the rank of staff sergeant Jan. 2, 1989, after 26 years of service. He liked to fish and mow grass.

He was a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church.

Preceding him in death were his father, one son, Gaylon Stewart; two brothers, Eddie Stewart and Junior Stewart and one sister, Corinne Fitzpatrick.

Survivors include his mother of Stillwater; his son, Gary Stewart and his special friend, Jennifer Mulder, of Pawnee; his daughter, Rose Stewart of Stillwater; his stepsons, Gabriel Stewart and his wife, Susanne, of Pawnee, Garland Stewart and his wife, Dana, of Pawnee, Calvin Alexander and his wife, Paula, of Stillwater, Reginald Alexander of Stillwater, Dennis Celestine of Stillwater and Ronnie Alexander of Stillwater; his stepdaughter, Lana Alexander of Stillwater; one sister, Marie Abbington and her husband, Sonny, of Stillwater and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives and friends.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Johnson, James Manuel, Fred Alexander and Ed Green.
