Lindsay Leigh Bender, age 25 years, Lindsay liked to spell her name with a "y", so thats how we will refer to her. Always challenging her friends and family, Lyndsay was a firecracker. She loved life, people, family, sports, and a good old fashioned debate. She was beautiful, intelligent, loyal, and loving. Lyndsay Leigh died at 8 a.m. on April 11, 2007 in a fatal car accident on her way down to the Outer Banks, NC, to be with her family on vacation. She was 25 years old.
Lyndsay was a long time sports fan. She started playing soccer with Red Land at age 4 and club soccer remained a passion thruogh middle school, where she played for West Shore and CPYSL, Lyndsay enjoyed basketball at St. Theresa's winning a State Championship in the CYO, and continued playing upon entering high school where she was also four year varsity track and field star. Lyndsaywas a graduate of Ceder Cliff High School and Kutztown University, where she was on the Dean's List and was the founding Vice President of Phi Sigma Pi National Honors Society, Kutztown chapter. Lyndsay shared har father's love of football and wrestling, and she could often be foung by the sideline when he was coaching and at matches around the area with him and her sister.
Lyndsay met Christian Michael Luciano at Kutztown University and had a four year relationship with him. They were planning wo wed sometime next year after her sister's wedding. Christian was a caring, intellgent wonderful manwith so many talents. A gifted artist, a Pennsylvania State Wrestling Champion and a great friend...Christian was also killed in the accident. He was 29 years old.
Lyndsay in survived by her loving father and mother, Charles and Michelle Bender; sisters, Megan and Charlotte Bender; grandmother Trudy Bender; grandparents, John and Helena Weaver; 15 aunts and uncles; 18 cousins; and countless friends and loved ones.
Mass Chriatian Burial was held at Saint Theresa Roman Catholic Church with Mass Chriatian Burila at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Mechanicsburg.
