Passed away of heart failure on April 6, 2018, just 34 days after the passing of his beloved wife of 53 years Irene Palko Ferguson. It was clear that they were meant to be together and it is a great comfort to know that they did not have to mourn each other for very long. Nick was the descendant of Scottish farmers and horse trainers and grew up in the tiny town of Commerce, Oklahoma, where he became the childhood friend and early teammate of future baseball legend Mickey Mantle. He moved to San Diego in 1950 and worked for Convair and later the Post Office for many years. He loved playing and watching sports, especially baseball and also greatly enjoyed gardening, the San Diego Zoo and road trips across the US. He also loved animals, especially horses and dogs, and was an experienced horseman. Nick is survived by his daughter Sharon .
