Services for Rev. Alonzo Roudet Loftin, 84 of
the Sunrise community near Hattiesburg
were held at 2 PM December 27th at the
Sunrise-Zion Hill Baptist Church, with
Rev. J.T. Renfro, pastor, officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery
with Hulett Funeral Home in charge of
arrangements.
Mr Lofton died December 23rd at 1:35 PM in
Jackson at the home of his daughter,
Mrs Carl Kosanke.
He went to Jackson about four months ago to
visit Mrs Kosanke, became ill and did not
recover sufficiently to return home.
He was a native of Choctaw County, Alabama and
attended Howard College in Birmingham Ala.
He held pastorates in Alabama and South
Mississippi and has been a resident of
Sunrise since 1930.
Since his retirement, he made his home with
his daughter Mrs Carl Smith of Sunrise.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs Minnie Daniels
Loftin of Sunrise, Mrs Earl Oliver of
Hazelcrest Ill, Mrs Kosanke and Mrs Smith:
Three sons Roudet F. Loftin of Bakersfield,
Calif.,Carey Loftin of Hollywood Calif.,
and Paul Loftin of Hattiesburg; one half sister,
Mrs Sarah Whitsettof Foley, Ala.
Sixteen grandchildren; one great-grandson
and several nieces and nephews.
