Dennis L. Ross, 97, of Kenna, was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.

He was born November 3, 1920, in Ivydale, to Grant and Alma Ross. He married Leah Mae Mollohan on June 21, 1947.

He raised his family in Valley Fork, later moved to Dixie, back to Valley Fork, and then made his final home in Kenna.

He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Hawaiian Islands and Philipines. He retired from Alloy plant but never stopping working. He was a mechanic by trade, always buying, fixing, and selling cars. Dennis drove cars to and from auctions until he turned 80. He loved to raise a garden, ride his tractor, and play the harmonica. Dennis attended Goshen Baptist Church and sang bass in the choir. He was our family's rock.

In addition to his wife, Leah, of 70 years, Dennis is survived by his daughters, Linda Ross of Pinch and Marva Ledbetter of South Charleston; son, Ricky (Carolyn) of Kenna; seven grandchildren, Missy (Wade), Jennifer (Jeff), Michael (Brandy), Amy (Bob), David (Kari), Matthew (Brittany), and Erin (Michael); and 12 great - grandchildren.

Dennis was preceded in death by his oldest son, D.J., and his sisters, Theo, Betty, and Wilma.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Clay Health Care Center in Big Otter for the care they provided to Dennis in the past 16 months and to the staff at both Braxton County Memorial Hospital and the Hubbard Hospice House of Charleston for the care during his last days.

In honor of his wishes, Dennis' body will be donated to WVU.
